Chandrakanti (Moong Dal Burfi) is a traditional Odia style dessert. I have learned this from my sweet mom.
She used to make it on festivals and poor me used to wait for the festival to come so that I can grab these tasty onesπ
Now I know the recipe, which is too easy to prepare.
And I try it more often even on a normal day when my Sweet tooth comes a-knockin.
Ingredients :
Recipe Details :
✓ Soak the yellow lentils or Moong Dal for 5-6 hours.
✓ Wash it well and blend Coarsely by adding some water. Don't make it a very fine paste or watery.
✓ Put a kadai on gas. pour water to it. When the water starts boiling, add salt and Cardamom Powder to it.
✓ Add sugar to water and combine well until it's dissolved in water.
✓ Low down the flame and add the blended Moong Dal paste to it.
✓ In low flame, keep stirring till water evaporates and make a very nice thick paste. Add ghee here at this stage and mix again. Ghee gives a very nice aromatic flavor to it.
✓ Turn off the gas. Grease a plate with ghee and transfer the thick paste to it. Put some ghee on your palm and spread evenly using hand to make a plain surface. Let it cool down completely.
✓ Grease a knife with ghee and cut into pieces. Give the shape as per your choice.

✓ Fry the pieces in medium flame until they turn to golden brown. Don't fry too much. It's tender from inside and crispy outside.
✓ Take out from oil and grab the soft pieces. They can be kept in a air-tight container for a day or 2 and consume.
