Dhaba Style Aloo Palak

Today's recipe from Panda's Kitchen is a healthy vegan dish, which uses very less spices and tastes great. If you love the Dhaba style Preparation, then you should definitely try this recipe.

It's obvious everyone wants to add some greens to their everyday meal, This recipe is a good option because even kids love potatoes.

"Dhaba style Aloo Palak" from Panda's Kitchen in today's recipe. This north India style dish can definitely be added to the list of everyday comfort food as it goes well as a side dish along with roti, Paratha, Puri or Rice.


Ingredients :

  • 250gm Palak/Spinach Leaves 
  • 2 Potato - cut into small pieces 
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds 
  • Around 6-8 Garlic Cloves - finely chopped (I like the garlic flavor in this dish) 
  • 1 big Onion - finely chopped 
  • 1 inch Ginger - finely chopped 
  • 2 Green Chillies - slitted  
  • 2 Red Chillies 
  • 1 Tomato - Roughly Chopped 
  • Salt 
  • 1 tsp Chilli Flakes 
  • 1/2 tap Garam Masala 
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder 
  • 1 tsp Dry Fenugreek Leaves 
  • 2 tbsp Oil (I use Mustard oil to make this dish)

Recipe Details :

✓ Wash the Spinach Leaves, clean them properly and chop.

✓ Heat 1 tbsp oil in a kadai and slightly shallow fry the potato pieces. Once they turn light brown, switch off the flame and take them out. Cover and keep aside to use later.

✓ To the same kadai, add rest of the oil. Once oil is hot, add cumin seeds, chopped ginger, garlic, green and red chillies. Just saute them in medium flame for around 10-15 secs.

✓ Add Onion to it and cook for another min in medium flame, till onion turns soft.


✓ To this, add chopped spinach along with 1 tsp salt. Mix well. Cover and cook around 2 mins till Spinach/palak turns soft.


✓ After 2-3 mins, open the lid and add chopped tomatoes. Cover and cook well for another 2 mins till tomatoes becomes soft.

✓ Add turmeric powder, garam masala, Chilli flakes to it and mix well. 


✓ To the kadai, now add the shallow fried potatoes and stir nicely. Cover and cook everything for 3 mins more in low flame.

✓ Open the lid and keep stirring and cooking in medium flame till all the water evaporates and the oil starts to separate.

✓ At the end, add Fenugreek Leaves. Give everything a good mix.


✓ Delicious and nutritious Dhaba style Aloo Palak is ready to serve hot. 

Tips: You can crush ginger, garlic and green chillies. Use then in stead of chopped one.
You can use Olive Oil/Regular Cooking Oil in stead of Mustard Oil
If you want the dish with gravy, add 1/4 cup water at the end and cook for 1-2 mins.
