Roasted Masala Makhana | Foxnut Munchies

Keeping a fast during festivals is very common among people. Some people are able to manage better, but some of us have to fight with our hunger pangs. We are so habituated of the regular food intake that it becomes really hard to control the cravings.

Either we are in a weight loss diet or during fast.. Choosing the right snacks is always a challenge, failing which will add extra pounds to body causing many more health risks.

Makhana or Foxnut is Lotus Seeds which is made edible after being processed and highly Nutritious. They are used in many sweet dishes and savories. As Makhanas are low in calories, with no cholesterol and saturated fats, they make for one of the healthiest snacks to lose weight. They are a great substitute for popcorn because of the Cruncy texture and health benefits.

Today's recipe from Panda's Kitchen is "Roasted Masala Makhana" or "Foxnut Munchies". 


 
Ingredients :

  • 50 gms Makhana
  • 1 tsp Ghee / Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt 
  • 1/2 tsp Black Salt 
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilly Powder 
  • 1/2 tsp Roasted Cumin Powder 
  • 1/4 tsp Amchur Powder 
  • 1/4 tsp Chat Masala 
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper Powder 
  • 1 tsp Honey (if you like the sweet taste)

Recipe Details :

 ✓ Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a kadai. Roast the Makhana for 2-3 mins till they turn light golden in color. It'll make the Makhana Crunchy and aromatic.


✓ Add all the other ingredients (except honey) to Makhana and give it a good stir.


✓ At the end, add honey and mix well. Masala Makhana is ready.

Tips: It can be stored in an air tight container for few days. But add honey only while serving.
