  • 1/2 slice Lemon

Recipe Details :

✓ Strain all the water from soaked Moong Dal and keep aside.

✓ In a kadai, heat mustard oil. In that add Cumin and the pinch of hing. Saute for 10 secs.

✓ To this, add Green Chilly, curry leaves, chopped ginger and garlic. Mix again.

✓ Now, add chopped onion and saute for 2-3 mins until Onion becomes light brown in color.

✓ At this step, add the chopped tomatoes. Mix everything again. Cover and cook till tomato becomes soft and mushy.

✓ Add salt, sugar, Turmeric Powder, red chilly powder, peeper powder and mix everything nicely. Cook for 2 more mins in medium flame.

✓ Add the soaked dal to kadai and give everything a good mix.

✓ Cover and Cook for around 10-15 mins. Stir it in each 5 mins intervals and cook.
No need to add water if you are using a non-stick pan, if not then add 1/2 cups of water and cook in medium flame ( not more than that)

✓ Check once if the dal is boiled or not by pressing some grains from Kadai. If it's not, then cover and cook for 2-3 mins more.

✓ At the end add Garam Masala and mix again. Moong Dal ki sookhi subji is ready now!!!

✓ Add some lime juice and chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with Puri or paratha or roti.

✓ If you want to cook still faster and in less time, use Pressure Cooker in stead of kadai and follow the same steps. Cook for just 1 whistle in medium flame.
