Gujia are small dumplings of half moon shape, with outer covering made up of Maida and Sooji and inside stuffing is filled with various ingredients like grated coconut, ghee roasted dry fruits, grated paneer, mawa and many more as per your choice. It's a Holi special dish, mostly prepared in North India. It has many Nick Names based on the region like Karanji, Somasi etc.
They are made in the similar way as that of samosa with a little variation. The traditional ones were prepared completely sweet, dipped in sugar syrup after fried. But could be because of being Health-Conscious or to avoid the excess sweetness, people prepare it in a way with sweet stuffing only. This is one of my favorite in Holi, and in today's recipe I am going to share my favorite version of Gujia, stuffed with roasted dry fruits and Grated coconut.
