Chilly Chicken

Who doesn't know about Chilly Chicken and who doesn't love Chilly Chicken 😋 
Let it be as a side with a glass of beer, or with a bowl of noodles or rice, or with Chapati and Paratha.
This Indo-Chinese cuisine is favorite to all of the chicken lovers!!!

Don't go by the name, it's not too spicy as the name says!! Chilly Chicken is a Perfect Combination of spice, sour and sweet flavors!! And when you prepare at home, everything can be maintained as per our own choice...

After a few experiments I was able to figure out the perfect version recipe of Chilly Chicken which is loved by my Friends and relatives. And since it's my husband's most favorite from my Kitchen, on the occasion of Valentine Day, this had to be must 😉

Chilly Chicken has many Versions, extremely dry, with a gravy or the tangy flavored juicy and tender one, which is my personal favorite!!! Today I am going to share my version of Chilly Chicken. Please try the same and don't forget to give your feedback!!


 Ingredients :
  • 500gm Chicken - cut Medium size (Bone or Boneless as per your choice) 
  • Salt 
  • 1 tsp Red Chilly Powder 
  • 1 tsp Pepper Powder 
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste 
  • 1 tsp Soya Sauce 
  • 3 tbsp Cornflour 
  • 1 tbsp Maida 
  • 1/4 of a Lemon 
  • A pinch of Baking Powder (to make the chicken tender) 
  • Refined Oil 
  • 1 tbsp Cornflour to prepare the slurry 
  • 2 Onion - Cut into Cubes 
  • 1 Capsicum - Cut into Cubes 
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped Ginger 
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped Garlic 
  • 3 Green Chilly - Slit from middle 
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup 
  • 1 tbsp Red Chilly Sauce 
  • 1 tsp Vinegar 
  • 1 tsp Soya Sauce 
  • 1 tbsp Honey 
  • Some Spring Onion - finely chopped

Recipe Details :
✓ As with every other recipe, let's start with marinating the chicken.

✓ In a bowl take the chicken and wash it nicely. To this, add salt, Ginger Garlic Paste, red chilly powder, pepper powder, soya sauce, lemon juice and the baking powder. Mix everything well using hand. To this, now add the Maida and Cornflour. Again mix everything and keep it aside for around 30 mins to 1 hour.

✓ Now heat oil in a Kadai and deep fry the marinated pieces in medium flame until they turn golden in color.

✓ In a pan, heat 2 tbsp oil. Add the chopped Ginger, Garlic and green chilly to it. Saute for few secs.

✓ Add the Cut cubes of onion and Capsicum and Cook for 1-2 mins, please note not more than this.

 

✓ Add tomato ketchup, Chilly Sauce, soya sauce and vinegar to it and give a good mix.

✓ add 1/4 tsp salt,1 tsp Black Pepper Powder, 1 tsp Red Chilly Powder and honey. Mix again and cook for a minute in low flame. The juicy sauce is ready now.

✓ Let's prepare the Cornflour slurry to add to the sauce. Mix well 1 tbsp Cornflour with 1/4 Cup of water to prepare the slurry and add it to the sauce. Give it a mix.

✓ Now add the fried chicken pieces to the kadai. Keep the gas flame medium and Mix the chicken and the sauce nicely until the chicken gets mix really well with the sauce. Cover it and cook for 2 mins in low flame.

✓ Add some spring onions to it and give a final stir.

✓ Now switch off the flame. The super yummy Chilly Chicken is ready to serve hot.
