In the fast moving world, we need something easy and quick-made to start our day with but not too heavy either with oil/masala. At the same time, we wish it should keep us full until lunch.
Idly has always been a good option in fulfilling these criteria, but what if batter is not available at that very moment.
To soak rice and Urad Dal and making batter again takes at least half a day...
So, Today it's a quick and instant Breakfast Recipe Day!!!
Ingredients :
For Onion Tomato Chutney :
Recipe Details :
✓ In a bowl, add Rava, curd and salt. Mix it well to form a smooth paste. Cover it and keep aside for 20-30 mins. Let the Sooji soak water and be fluffy.
✓ In a Kadai, heat oil. Add Urad Dal, Chana Dal, Cashew, fry for 1-2 mins.
✓ Add Curry leaves and fry all of them in low flame until the lentils and cashew turn golden Brown in color.
✓ Let this mixture cool down. Add it to the Rava paste made in step 1.
✓ Keep adding little by little water and mix well to make a thick batter (same as idly batter)
✓ Add Eno/baking soda to it and mix it well again. (This will make the idly soft)
✓ Take Idly Mould. Put the batter on it in one by one moulds ( I have a non-stick idly cooker, so I don't grease it before-hand. You can grease with oil otherwise)
✓ Don't fill the mould fully, leave some space for the idly to fluff.
✓ Keep the mould inside idly pot, where water is heated up and let it cook for 15 mins in low flame until the whistle blows.
✓ After 15 mins, turn off the flame and let the gas come out from cooker completely.
✓ Open the cover and check with a toothpick if the idly is properly cooked.
✓ Let it cool down and serve in a plate. Soft Fluffy Rava Idly is ready to consume with Chutney.
Let's prepare Chutney :
✓ Take 2 tbsp oil in a Pan.
✓ Fry all the above ingredients (first start with Lentils, then Onion followed by all the other stuffs, at the end add chopped tomatoes)
✓ Cook them in medium flame until tomato turns mushy and onion is fried well.
✓ Add salt as per your taste and turn off the heat.. Let the mixture cool down..
✓ Transfer it to a blender and add a small pulp of Tamarind paste (if you like little sour taste)
✓ Grind the mixture well, don't add any water to it.. Chutney is ready 😋😋
✓ I like it to take it as is, you can add a tempering of Mustard seeds, red chilli and a pinch of asafoetida powder 🙂🙂
✓ It goes well with Idly, Rava Idly, Dosa or Uttapam.
